Celebrating Cuban Style

Tumbao brings the foundational, syncopated rhythm of Afro-Cuban music and the natural confidence, sass and passion of Cuba to Auckland.

The Heartbeat

Founded by Claire Atherstone, Salsa Tumbao is more than a festival. It's a community-driven mission to bring the authentic "Tumbao" (swing and rhythm) of Havana to Auckland. Two days of workshops, live music, and social dancing rooted in a passion for Cuban dance.

"Connecting dancers not just to the movement, but to the music, culture, and community."

At Salsa Tumbao, we honor the deep history of these dances, connecting dancers not just to the steps, but to the music, culture, and community that makes it thrive.

Authentic Cuban Dance Expression
The heat and rhythm of Afro-Cuban dance

"Tumbao is more than a rhythm.
It's a heartbeat."
